Carmen Doreal

Carmen Doreal - is the pen name of the poet and painter Carmen Țuculescu Poenaru, naturalized Canadian born in Romania. Born in the city of Petrosani, Romania, she currently lives in Montreal, Canada, since 2001. She graduated from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Targu-Jiu, the Sanitary High School of Targu-Mures, and LaSalle College of Montreal. She is the vicepresident of the Association of Romanian Language Writers from Quebec, and member of the following groups and associations: - Association of Romanian Writers in North America - Eminescu and Literarture Destinies writers’ groups from Montreal, Canada - Columna writers’ group from Targu-Jiu, Romania - „Constantin Brancusi” Cultural Foundation from Romania - Quebec’s International Academy of Fine Arts - Quebec’s Circle of Painters and Sculptors - American-Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences, USA She is publishing in various magazines and literary anthologies, collaborates with various radio and television shows in Romania and Canada. Carmen Doreal has authored six poetry books: 1. „The Vernissage of Love”, Curierul Dunarii publishing house, Bucharest, Romania, 1999 2. „Colorful Poems”, Nemesis publishing house, Montreal, Canada, 2010 3. „Date without arguments”, Fides publishing house, Iasi, Romania, 2013 4. „Borrowed dreams”, Fides publishing house, Iasi, Romania, 2019 5. „Butterfly wedding”, Vatra Veche publishing house, Targu-Mures, Romania, 2022 6. „On the life’s line”, Princeps Multimedia publishing house, Iasi, Romania, 2022 All the six poetry books represent the double artistic creed of the poet-painter Carmen Doreal. She coauthored a book called „Life as a book, the book as a destiny” with the Romanian poet Daniel Corbu, with the subtitle: „Daniel Corbu about Daniel Corbu in interview with Carmen Doreal”, published by Princeps Multimedia publishing house, in Iasi, Romanina, in 2020. The book won the „Literary Harvest Book” award. Author of over a hundred paintings in acrylic and oil on canvas, Carmen Doreal participated in countless international painting exhibitions in Europe and Canada. She had four solo exhibitions: two organized by Inter-Palas Montreal Art Gallery, in 2009, and 2010, and the other two in 2012 and 2016, at the Municipal Library of Two Mountains, her place of residence, just north of Montreal. Her artistic works are exhibited in Europe and North America, in art galleries and private collections.
